Biblical Response to Matters that Concern Us All

Corruption and Injustice

For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given;
And the government shall be upon His shoulder,
And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace,
[He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From that time forward and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:6-7

But in accordance with His promise we expectantly await new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

2 Peter 3:13

Crime and Violence

For yet a little while and the wicked one will be gone [forever];
Though you look carefully where he used to be, he will not be [found].
11 But the humble will [at last] inherit the land
And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity and peace.

Psalm 37:10-11

For the upright [those who are in right standing with God] will live in the land, And those [of integrity] who are blameless [in God’s sight] will remain in it;22 But the wicked will be cut off from the land
And the treacherous shall be [forcibly] uprooted and removed from it.

Proverbs 2:21-22

 Death and Mourning

He will swallow up death [and abolish it] for all time.
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
And He will take away the disgrace of His people from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.

Isaiah 25:8

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, arrayed like a bride adorned for her husband; and then I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “See! The tabernacle of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them [a][as their God,] and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the [b]former order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:2-4

Depression

O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good;
How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.

Psalm 34:8

“Behold, I am creating new heavens and a new earth;
And the former things [of life] will not be remembered or come to mind.
18 “But be glad and rejoice forever over what I create;
Behold, I am creating Jerusalem to be a source of rejoicing
And her people a joy.
19 “I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people;
And there will no longer be heard in her
The voice of weeping and the sound of crying.

Isaiah 65:17-19

Food Shortages and Malnutrition

There will be an abundance of grain in the soil on the top of the [a]mountains;
Its fruit will wave like [the cedars of] Lebanon,
And those of the city will flourish like grass of the earth.

Psalm 72:16

On this mountain [Zion] the Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples [to welcome His reign on earth],
A banquet of aged wines—choice pieces [flavored] with marrow,
Of refined, aged wines.

Isaiah 25:6

Housing and Economic Problems

“They will build houses and live in them;
They will plant vineyards and eat the fruit.
22 “They will not build and another occupy;
They will not plant and another eat [the fruit].
For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people,
And My chosen [people] will fully enjoy [and long make use of] the work of their hands.

Isaiah 65:21-22

Ineffective Government

Do not trust in princes,
In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation (help).
When his spirit leaves him, he returns to the earth;
In that very day his thoughts and plans perish.

Psalm 146:3-4

In the days of those [final ten] kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will its sovereignty be left for another people; but it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it will stand forever.

Daniel 2:44

Mistreatment of Animals

A righteous man has kind regard for the life of his animal,
But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.

Proverbs 12:10

Moral Breakdown

But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, [and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of [sensual] pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]. Avoid such people and keep far away from them.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Poverty and Oppression

For he will rescue the needy when he cries for help,
The afflicted and abused also, and him who has no helper.
13 He will have compassion on the poor and needy,
And he will save the lives of the needy.
14 He will redeem their life from oppression and fraud and violence,
And their blood will be precious in His sight.

Psalm 72:12-14

All this I have seen while applying my mind to every deed that is done under the sun. There is a time in which one man has exercised power over others to their detriment.

Ecclesiastes 8:9

Prejudice and Inequality

And He will delight in the fear of the Lord,
And He will not judge by what His eyes see,
Nor make decisions by what His ears hear;
But with righteousness and justice He will judge the poor,
And decide with fairness for the downtrodden of the earth;
And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,
And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
And righteousness will be the belt around His loins,
And faithfulness the belt around His waist.

Isaiah 11:3-5

 Opening his mouth, Peter said:

“Most certainly I understand now that God is not one to show partiality [to people as though Gentiles were excluded from God’s blessing], 35 but in every nation the person who fears God and does what is right [by seeking Him] is acceptable and welcomed by Him.

Acts 10:34-35

Ruining of the Earth

And the nations (Gentiles) became enraged, and Your wrath and indignation came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and [the time came] to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints (God’s people) and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and [the time came] to destroy the destroyers of the earth.”

Revelation 11:18

Sickness and Disability

And no inhabitant [of Zion] will say, “I am sick”;
The people who dwell there will be forgiven their wickedness [their sin, their injustice, their wrongdoing].

 Isaiah 33:24

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
Then the lame will leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
For waters will break forth in the wilderness
And streams in the desert.

Isaiah 35:5-6

War and Terrorism

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has brought desolations and wonders on the earth.
He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow into pieces and snaps the spear in two;
He burns the chariots with fire.

Psalm 46:8-9

And He will judge between many peoples
And render decisions for strong and distant nations.
Then they shall hammer their swords into plowshares
And their spears into pruning hooks [so that the implements of war may become the tools of agriculture];
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Nor shall they ever again train for war.
Each of them shall sit [in security and peace] under his vine
And under his fig tree,
With no one to make them afraid,
For the mouth of the [omnipotent] Lord of hosts has spoken it.

Micah 4:3-4

The Most Glorious Christmas Message You Will Ever Hear

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The key is believing (trusting) in Jesus. That’s the provision that God has required for those to be born again. You are born again when you, by faith, believe in Jesus Christ, that He bore God’s judgment for your sins in His death upon the cross, and you receive Him into your life. You are then born again by the Spirit of God and have become now a new creature in Jesus Christ, a son of God, a child of the King. Believing in Him, that is the key.

Then Jesus went on to declare to Nicodemus,

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17

I do not know why we always seem to picture Christ as condemning us. Well, I guess it’s because we’re so guilty all the time. But we always are thinking of Him in that posture of condemning. “You,” you know, “you’re doing it again!” And we’re always thinking of Him in that posture of condemning. But Paul the apostle asked the rhetorical question in Romans 8, “Who is he that condemneth?” And then he answers, “Not Jesus! For He died for us; ye, rather is risen again and is even at the right hand of the Father making intercession.” God didn’t send Him into the world to condemn the world. Jesus hasn’t come to condemn you. Jesus has come to save you. “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” He didn’t need to come to condemn, because the world is already condemned.

He that believeth in him is not condemned. John 3:18

Oh, did you hear that? Do you believe that? “He that believeth in Him is not condemned.” What a glorious message of God’s grace to us tonight! That ought to thrill your soul beyond measure! “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who believe in Jesus Christ” (Romans 8:1). Isn’t that what it says? Do you believe it? Why is it that we are always going around condemning ourselves? Why is it that we are always going around feeling so defeated and so discouraged, when there is therefore now no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus? For he that believeth in Him is not condemned; however, he that believeth not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18

What is His name? Yeshua, the Lord is salvation. Jesus came to save. That’s what His name implies. “Thou shalt call His name Yeshua, for He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). He did not come to condemn, He came to save. His name implies His mission. Jesus declared it plainly. He said, “I have come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Now, “he that believeth not is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

And what is the condemnation?

that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be manifested. But he that doeth the truth comes to the light, that his deeds might be made manifested, that they are wrought in God. John 3:19-21

What is the condemnation? That men won’t come to the light, Yeshua (Jesus).

The key: Believe in and trust Jesus. He is all you will ever need. Halleluyah!

Do You Want to Stop? Then Find the Escape Hatch.

The most important strategy for beating temptation is avoid it all together. Stay out of the contest. Do not even go near it. As humans we like to play with danger, to have options, and take trouble head-on, because we believe that we can always pack on more power than our opponents. Not true!
With these temptations our instincts get us into trouble. You see, temptation pits us against our own sin nature and all the powers of evil. Just look around you. Sin weakens us and compromises our ability to receive God’s favor that He wants to give us.
Ponder this thought, we would never sin if we were never tempted. Stay away from the deceptive tactics of Satan whenever possible. Eve would not have eaten the forbidden fruit if she stayed away from the forbidden tree. The same is true for us.
For example, I overcame drug addiction. And because I have decided not to smoke pot, or use any other recreational drugs, I avoid places that are prone to have drugs available; parties and friends that use drugs. Someone who has overcome drunkenness will tell you that having decided not to drink, they stay out of bars, liquor stores, and away from drinking friends.
Someone who struggles with pornography has stated that he had started pulling into an adult video store on his way home from work. It had now become a habit. He was asked “is there another route you can take to get home?” He admitted that he never considered that option, but also watched trashy shows on HBO while his wife was sleeping at night. “Do you really want to quit?“ he was asked. He answered in the affirmative. He was advised to cancel his subscription to HBO. He did, and now enjoys sleeping with his wife in peace.
When you are ready to quit something that is ruining your life, you will do whatever necessary to remove that sin. But know this, it is refreshing to know that if you ask God to help you avoid evil, He will. He is your Father and watches out for you even when you do not. Just ask Him and He will tell you where not to go.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].”
Imagine for a minute that you are standing in front of your home and see a stranger coming up your street. He is dressed in black and walks in your direction. You notice that he is checking mailboxes and house numbers. You realize that this figure is here to do you harm, so you suck behind some bushes. A soon as the stranger finds your address, he steps up to your door and knocks.
As you watch, the door opens, and you see something remarkable. The person answering the door is Jesus.
The stranger hesitates, “Excuse me, but isn’t this the house of _____?” And he speaks your name.
Jesus replies, “As a matter of fact, it is. But My friend has asked Me to guard the door.”
The stranger tense, grinds his teeth, and seems to consider forcing his way in. Then he looks down at the hand on the knob. He sees the nail scars. He glances up at Jesus’ head and the marks left by the thorns.
And the stranger scowls as he turns away…
This is a defensive measure used by Martin Luther, the reat reformed of the sixteenth century, when he faced temptaions of all kinds. On the front lines of a spiritual awakening that wa shaking the world. Luther felt himself under constant attack. His story of Jesus answering the door of his home when temptation came calling had a specific purpose. It was his way of meditating on a powerful truth about Christ’s power to help us escape temptation. “Because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering.” Hebrews 2:18.
This is the wonderful escape clause in 1 Corinthians 10:13. In His faithfulness, God pledges to not allow any temptation to push you beyond your ability to resist.
How do I use this? I say aloud, “This temptation to (name of sin) is not too strong for me, because my Father has limited it to what I am able to cope with right now; the truth of it is that there is a way out of this temptation, and God will not allow it to overpower me!”
You see my friend, God will help you in your temptation. He will open the way for you to escape.
If you do not already have a personal relationship with God, and desire one, why not prayer this prayer:
God I’m sorry for my sin. I turn from it right now. I thank You for sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sin. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart and life right now. Be my Lord, Savior, and friend. Help me to follow You all the days of my life as Your disciple. Thank You for forgiving me and receiving me right now. Thank You that my sin is forgiven and that I’m going to Heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Perhaps you have strayed from Jesus Christ. You have been a prodigal son or daughter. God will forgive you right now if you will return to Him. He tells us in Scripture, “My wayward children, come back to Me and I will heal your wayward hearts” (Jeremiah 3:22, If you would like to return to God and rededicate your life to Him right now, you may want to pray like this:
God I’m sorry for my sin. I’m, sorry that I have strayed from You. I ask You to forgive me now as I repent of my sin. I don’t want to live like a prodigal any longer. Renew and revive me as I once again follow You as my God. Thank You for Your forgiveness. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

If You Play With Fire You Will Get Burned….Halloween – The Truth

Zymmerkee, an Ex Wiccan and Satanist exposes Halloween. He kindly wrote this article for my blog, by Laura Maxwell

Halloween – The History.

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

It is believed that Halloween has its origins in Ireland and was celebrated by pagans as a harvest festival, which they called “Samhain”, pronounced “sow-en”. Later on, it got anglicised to “All Hallows’ Eve”. Traditionally Samhain falls on November the 1st. The Celts intermingled as a society around 800 BC.

It was the celebration of their new year, and it was their most significant and most important holy day. The word “Samhain” comes from the Gaelic words for “summer” and “end”. They believed that at this time, the year’s dead would traverse between the acausal (spirit realm) and the causal (the living, our world). They believed the righteous spirits ascended into Tír na hÓige, and the bad or lost spirits would remain behind.

The spirits that were left behind were believed to be able to cause harm to the living, so, the Celts performed many ritualistic and symbolic acts to prevent themselves from being harmed. These acts were to become the foundations of modern Halloween.

The druids were the priests of Celtic society and religion and held positions of power and privilege. They were regarded as the final authority on all matters. Whatever they said, you had to comply, otherwise they would make an example of you. They believed their god would die around Halloween time, and in order for him to be re-born—blood had to be shed to appease him in the hope that he would produce an abundance of crops the following year.

Ancient Druidism

Ancient Druidism

It’s been said that they would go into villages and bang on doors and demand a human sacrifice, and if the household complied, they would give them protection from evil spirits by placing a Jack-o’-lantern, made from a hollowed-out turnip, in which holes were cut to represent a grimacing face and containing human fat, in front of their door, but if they refused, they would curse them and their home, by painting a hexagram in blood on their door, which would attract evil spirits to wreak havoc upon them. This is where “trick-or-treat” originated from.

If the druids were given someone from a household to be sacrificed, they would give the victim a chance to live before the ceremony began, by binding their hands and giving them one attempt to take out an apple from a cauldron of boiling liquid, using only their mouth. If they succeeded, then they would be given liberty, although they would be severely scalded and would have long-lasting health problems, but if they failed then they would be decapitated on the spot. This is where “apple bobbing” originated from.

Druids

Druids

It is a popular misconception held by people today that the druids were these animal-loving, peaceful people that were in tune with nature, before Christianity came along and converted them. There is overwhelming archaeological evidence showing that they practiced human and animal sacrifice—not only on Halloween—but all year round on a regular basis. It wasn’t just the druids, but ubiquitous pagan cultures the world over would also sacrifice animals and humans to appease their gods.

Bear in mind, before Christ said “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15), the whole world was pagan and followed an ungodly, Satanic way of life, with the exception of the Jews, and even they too were often hell-bent on turning away from the only true Living God and taking up pagan practices—read Psalm 106.

Neo-druidism of today is not the same as druidism two millennia ago. Today, we have the watered-down version to appear acceptable to our current way of life, and now the only oblations they give their gods are plants, herbs and other flora stuff. Nevertheless, they are still playing with fire, by consorting with evil spirits and practising what is forbidden by God.

Halloween – Today.

Today, Halloween, with the addition of new symbolism and practices, didn’t arise until the 1800s, at which point Irish immigrants brought observance of it to America en masse. American cultural influence changed Irish sobriety concerning the dead, turning Halloween into a jovial representation of supernatural forces, ghosts and witches.

“In the first half of the twentieth, Hallowe’en developed steadily into a national festivity for Americans, guising becoming a ubiquitous tradition of fancy dress to represent ghosts, goblins, and witches, pumpkins replacing Irish vegetables as cases for lanterns, and mischief-making and house-to-house calls combining in the custom of trick-or-treat. The same process occurred in Britain, partly as a result of a parallel massive influx of Irish under Victoria but mainly also because of increasing American cultural influence from that period onward.” ~ Ronald Hutton.

Halloween isn’t exclusive to the Celtic traditions, there are other versions of it in othercultures:

The Days of the Dead in Mexico

The Day of the Dead in Mexico

– In Mexico, in the fall, countless numbers of Monarch butterflies return to Mexico and the shelter of its oyamel fir trees. The beliefs of the Aztecs live on in many contemporary Mexicans who believe that the butterflies bear the spirits of their dead ancestors. It is these spirits that the people honour during “Los Dias de los Muertos” (The Days of the Dead).

It is believed by them to be a joyous, happy holiday—a time of remembering past friends and family who have died. It is celebrated, during Halloween, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, Oct-31 to Nov-2. Altars in the homes are decorated with bread, sweets, fruit, and flowers. Candles are lit in memory of their ancestors.

The people dress up as ghouls, ghosts, mummies and skeletons. They parade a live person in a coffin through the streets. Vendors toss fruit, flowers and candies into the coffin. Families visit the cemetery carrying tools to spruce up the graves and decorate them. They stay over-night. American Halloween customs are gradually taking over this celebration though.

– Modern Ásatrú celebrate it as an old Nordic event. In the old Norse religion an event believed to occur around the same time of the year as Halloween was the Álfablót (elven blót), which involved sacrifices to the elves and the blessing of food. The elves were seen as “powers” that connected to the ancestors, and it can be assumed that the blót related to a cult of the ancestors.

MY OWN STORY

Before I started following the Lord Jesus Christ, I used to love Halloween and celebrated it every year—both when I was a Wiccan and when I was a Satanist. I didn’t have much interest in the activities of Halloween when I was a kid though. I never took part in trick-or-treat because—even at a young age—it seemed immoral to me to knock on random doors and ask strangers for a treat, or play a trick on them if they refused.

H 10

Looking back at it now, I’m glad I didn’t, because there are many people that are sick in the head and you don’t know—improbable it may seem—if a stranger has laced the sweets with drugs or even poison that they could give you. Neither did I take part in “mischief night”, which, in my area, coincides with Halloween and usually involves throwing eggs at random people and setting wheelie bins on fire.

pagan, wicca, witchcraft

When I was a Wiccan, Halloween was an exciting time for me to attempt to contact the dead. I inscribed the names of dead people I wished to remember onto a light-blue or violet candle, lit some incense, lit the wick of the candle, cast a circle—foolishly believing it would protect me from any evil spirits and then prayed to ‘the dead’ and meditated on the memories I had of them.

Ouija Boards are sold for children now!

Ouija Boards are sold for children now!

I would occasionally use a ouija board to try and contact the spirits, but all I ever got was a little ideomotor effect from the planchette. I had more success using a crystal pendulum, and even that wasn’t very significant. One time when I was holding the pendulum and asking for spirits to present themselves, the pendulum started spinning very quickly then suddenly shot up and hit me on the head. I was a little intoxicated at the time and thought the spirits were joking around and I found it amusing, but it could have easily been my own doing.

I once had a go at trying to see spirits by scrying with a black mirror, but didn’t see anything I wanted to see.

graveyard cemetry coffin

I was a solitary practitioner, and one time on Halloween, after consuming many mouthfuls of elixir (well, vodka to be precise) to give myself some Dutch courage, and after being enchanted by the ambience of the night, decided to intrepidly (or foolishly) walk alone to a nearby wooded-hill that has a notorious reputation for witchcraft and the like—to get closer to the “deities” and perhaps bump into a fellow pagan.

sun goddess

sun goddess

I didn’t see a soul, which, looking back at it, was a good thing. I walked to a long, flat sandstone outcrop that I knew about and visited many times before, where there is a four-and-a-half foot long carving of a sun goddess with outstretched arms. The head of the goddess faces the direction to where the sun sets on Midsummer’s Day. Also, there is a carving of a cat-headed moon goddess with a moon at her feet.

These carvings are thought to have been done by Viking settlers in the area—probably the 9th-10th century AD. However, one source estimates the age of the carvings as being Roman from the 2nd century AD. I did a ritual to the goddesses, then I walked to a nearby cemetery and traipsed around the graves saying words of blessing to the dead. I was disappointed to not stumble across any other witches, or see any ghosts that night. All I did see was a poppet hanging from a tree and a hexagonal mirror on a grave, which indicated that somebody with similar interests as myself had been around earlier.

In all my methods I used for necromancy, I never saw any spirits, nor noticed any significant spirit activity that was indicative of success. So, boring as it may seem, I don’t have any jaw-dropping ghostly experiences of Halloween to share with you. In those days, I was of course disappointed, but now as a Christian, I am relieved that I was unsuccessful. I now realise that the dead are conscious of nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5), and if I had been successful in contacting a spirit, it would have most definitely been a demon, that no doubt would’ve caused mayhem in my life.

In my past dabblings with witchcraft and necromancy, I was very fortunate not to experience any direct spiritual attack, poltergeist activity, or even possession. Why? I could’ve just been fortunate, or maybe the spirits didn’t want me, howbeit, I now believe it was because God was protecting me.

A Warning!

You see, what I didn’t mention earlier in this article is that before I got deceived and ensnared by witchcraft and Satanism, I was a Christian. I was a true believer in Christ and was filled with His Holy Spirit, but fell away from the truth, turned my back on the Lord and followed lies.

Some Christians believe that once you are filled with God’s Spirit, He will never leave you, so maybe the demons didn’t want to go anywhere near me because I still had the Holy Spirit within me, which I was unaware of, or conveniently forgot at the time.

Or maybe the demons knew that if they came too close to me, even masquerading as something benign, in which I was fully aware of their presence, I might have come to my senses and remembered the days when I followed the Lord and rebuked them and turned back to the truth, the light, which is in Jesus Christ and Him alone, and they certainly didn’t want that, and allowed me to continue in my ignorance of deception.

Demons aren’t stupid, they know the past of each individual and how they tick. They have had thousands of years to become uber-strategists! They were aware of my situation and past and wanted me to remain deceived and not rock the boat.

I have since repented of my sins and returned back to the Lord. Now, even though I played with fire and didn’t succumb to any horrific burns, doesn’t mean that will be the outcome for everyone that dabbles in the occult. My case is a rare example. If you call upon spirits, they will come, whether you notice them or not.

demon fallen angel nephilim

The extent to how much demons can affect you is subjective and each individual case is different. To be on the safe side, never partake in necromancy, witchcraft and the like. I’ve heard some harrowing stories of demonic harassment arising from just playing around with the ouija board only once—that led to the destruction of people’s lives. Do you want to take a chance and go down that road?

The belief that only on Halloween the walls between the world of the living and the world of the dead are ‘thin’ and spirits have only one day a year to harass the living is a complete lie. It is true that demons have their own realm, but they can travel to and fro between our world and their realm any time they like, all year round. These spirits are not the dead.

Depending on which Christian belief you hold, the dead are either in Hell, which is either the grave or a literal place of torment, or they are in Heaven. In either case, the living cannot contact the dead, and the dead cannot contact the living. Demons are fallen angels that were cast to earth, and they dwell amongst us, and can masquerade as the dead, they know your ancestry so well.

I celebrated Halloween when I later became a Satanist (atheistic LaVeyan type) too, but by that time, I had ceased believing in anything supernatural and just celebrated the occasion for the ritualistic thrill of it.

Anton LaVey

Anton LaVey

Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan said :

“After one’s own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht and Halloween.”

Here are two excerpts from The Church of Satan to illustrate my stance on Halloween when I was a Satanist :

– “Since Satanism is a self-centered religion, the highest holiday of the year would be the Satanist’s own birthday, which needs no ritual but should be spent in doing things a Satanist would enjoy. There is no requirement that a Satanist celebrate any holidays, and there are no hard and fast traditions or rites associated with them. Since Satanism embraces Nature, the other holidays a Satanist might choose to celebrate would be the seasonal turning points marked by the equinoxes and solstices—the dates of which vary from year to year, as well as the mid points between these which can be recognized as the climaxes of each season. In particular, April 30th, called Walpurgisnacht, is the Spring climax and the anniversary of the founding of the Church of Satan and is generally noted. Halloween, October 31, is the Fall climax and may be celebrated as a time when one’s inner-self might be explored through the use of a costume, or one might recall those of importance in one’s life who have died – as was done on that night in European tradition.”

 '...for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.' (Bible, 2 Corinthians 11:14).

‘…for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.’ (Bible, 2 Corinthians 11:14).

– “We see this holiday as the night when the mundane folk try to reach down inside and touch the “darkness” which for Satanists is a daily mode of existence. Particularly in the United States, Halloween is a time for celebrating monster films, wearing costumes of a macabre nature, and evoking the thrill of “fun fear.” Children (of all ages) can indulge their fantasies by donning costumes that allow for intense role-playing and the release of their “demonic cores,” the parts of their personalities often hidden from their friends, co-workers and families.

Though there are traditions making this an occasion for recalling the dead, it has been popularized as a time to play with what historically were fears directed towards what were thought to be unquiet spirits of the departed. And the grand traditional question “Trick or treat?” has become a means for fulfilling an indulgence in sweets, without the need to resort to the optional coercion.

Satanists embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, we smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” We encourage their tenebrous fantasies, the candied indulgence, and the wide-ranging evocation of our aesthetics (while tolerating some of the chintzy versions), even if it is but once a year. For the rest of the time, when those not of our meta-tribe shake their heads in wonder at us, we can point out that they may find some understanding by examining their own All Hallows Eve doings, but we generally find it simpler to just say: “Think of the Addams Family and you’ll begin to see what we’re about.”

H 3

I’m now a Christian and take my relationship with the Lord seriously, and will NEVER celebrate Halloween ever again and neither should any Christian, or non-Christian for that matter.

What’s wrong with Halloween? Everything about it is wrong! It does not have even one single redeeming virtue. It is a demon-inspired, devil-glorifying occult festival! Those who love the Lord Jesus Christ should have nothing to do with it!

The Bible does not mention Halloween. However, both the ancient origins of Halloween and its modern customs show it to be a celebration based on false beliefs about the dead and non-corporeal entities.

The Bible warns :

“There shall not be found among you anyone that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits (demons), or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord : and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).

H 7

While some view Halloween as harmless fun, the Bible indicates that the practices associated with it are not.

“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.” (1 Corinthians 10:20-21).

If God does not exist, and if demons aren’t real, and if the Bible was inspired by nothing more than man’s ego, then celebrating Halloween would be harmless. However, from many personal experiences and from my unshakeable conviction after studying the Bible, I can confidently assert that God does exist and He’s recording every deed and thought you make, demons do exist and are constantly yearning an invitation to destroy you, and that the biblical scriptures are true and accurate and warn against attempting to contact the dead. God knows you will be actually contacting evil demons posing as the dead!

H 14

Therefore, it is wise for Christians and non-Christians alike, to never open any doors—no matter how innocuous they may seem—and allow any eagerly awaiting demon to step into your life. If you do, demons could wreak havoc in your life, and your life will take a turn for the worse.

You might end up having a series of bad luck. You might end up getting sick. You might end up getting demonised and start “hearing voices” and mistakenly get diagnosed with something like schizophrenia and end up in a psychiatric hospital being pumped full of pernicious medication that won’t do you any good and your health will deteriorate.

Or you might end up getting fully possessed and jump off a bridge. You may think my examples are far-fetched, and I’m being a scaremonger, but I know such examples have happened to people before. ( NOTE from Laura : I agree!)

Be wise, be safe, trust in the Lord and take heed of His sound advice and have nothing to do with Halloween!

demon, satan

If anyone is reading this and doesn’t know the Lord, and is subject to a demonic attack. There is only one name that can help you, and that is Jesus Christ! Call out to Jesus Christ asking Him to rebuke the devil. The blood and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only authoritative name demons will obey. Pray to God for protection in Jesus’ name too. Get right with God, not only for security, but more importantly, for eternal life.

Jesus is The True Light of the world.

Jesus is The True Light of the world.

Read the Bible, acknowledge that Jesus Christ is God; that He came to earth as a man in order to live the sinless life that you cannot live; that He died in your place, so that you would not have to pay the penalty you deserve.

Admit that you have sinned and in need of redemption.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

Confess your sin (out loud) to the Lord and say something like :

“Eternal Father, my God, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus Christ to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.”

If you’ve prayed this prayer of salvation with true conviction and heart, you are now a follower of Jesus. This is a fact, whether or not you feel any different. Religious systems may have led you to believe that you should feel something—a warm glow, a tingle, or some other mystical experience. The fact is, you may, or you may not have felt anything! If you have prayed the prayer of salvation and meant it, you are now a follower of Jesus. The Bible tells us that your eternal salvation is now secure!

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Satan Loses Another Battle

Change is something we tend to fear and become anxious about because we do not feel in control of life. The good news is that God has a plan for your life, hope, a future, and to prosper. If we trust in God and allow the change to grow us to become more like Jesus Christ in how we respond and act, then we are promised that all things will work together for good for those who love Him and keep His commandments. Romans 8:28

This weekend we met a single mother of four children who are in foster care for the time being. We are elated and thankful to God  that with His leading,  we were able to her to get the help and support that she needs . She is a homeless, Christian woman struggling with addiction, depression, lack of self worth, and a need to escape domestic abuse. God has provided a roof over her head, a wonderful support group,  and hope for a productive future.

There is always hope.

If you struggle with addiction, abuse, depression, anxiety, fear and panic disorders, self-mutilation, suicidal thoughts and/or tendencies, or any of the other issues mentioned on this website, please reach out to us. You do not need to be in our home town to receive our help. We will do whatever we can to get you the help and support that you need.

Please email your story to us at outofseasonministries@outlook.com.

All names are kept anonymous.

All we ask is that you allow us to pray for you and help in any way we are able.

You are not alone. God desires to show you His love. I beg you to allow Him.

God already knows you are afraid. All He asks is that you step out in faith.

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. Philippians 4:6-8

Death Has No Victory Over the Child of God

When a bee stings you, it leaves its stinger in you along with part of its abdomen and digestive tract, thus killing the bee.

The same is true when Jesus died on the cross. In his continuing hatred for God’s Son, Satan thought it a boundless idea to have Jesus betrayed, arrested, beaten, and then crucified on a Roman cross, a most barbaric way to die.  However, everything went as God had planned, and the sting of death defeated itself.

So where is the sting of death for the believer? It is ripped out because at the cross, Jesus took the stinger out of death. As Christians, we no longer need to fear death because our souls will live on forever with Christ. Halleluyah!

He will swallow up death [and abolish it] for all time.
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
And He will take away the disgrace of His people from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.

Isaiah 25:8

Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol (the place of the dead)?
Shall I redeem them from death?
O death, where are your thorns?
O Sheol, where is your sting?
Compassion is hidden from My eyes [because of their failure to repent].

Hosea 13:14

And when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the Scripture will be fulfilled that says, “Death is swallowed up in victory (vanquished forever). 55 O death, where is your victoryO death, where is your sting?”

1 Corinthians 15:54-55

Lose Yourself to Gain Yourself

And He (Jesus) was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].

Luke 9:23

When I was dealing with discouragement and despair I noticed that it was because I was putting my focus and trust in everything else besides God. I was constantly dwelling on my problems and taking my eyes off of God.

Self-preoccupation is disorienting, because when we are looking at ourselves we are not looking to Jesus. and we are not looking at the road we are running on. The Bible states that Jesus is our example in Hebrews 12:1-2:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].

Note: Sometimes the public shame of the cross is overlooked when one thinks of the pain and agony inflicted by it, but in the Roman Empire crucifixion was a shameful and disgraceful way to die, a form of capital punishment from which Roman citizens were exempt; and in Roman comedy it was used in a curse: “Go to a bad cross!”

It is disappointing because we never find in ourselves what we are looking for. Therefore, it frequently leads to discouragement and despair. Ironically, we are often lured into self-centered introspection, which leads us into a vicious cycle of self-improvement efforts, self-indulgence, self-disillusionment, and new self-resolves.

When you do this that gives the devil an opportunity to tell lies such as God is not near you and He will not help you.

Please don’t listen to these lies. I found out what I was doing wrong and I went into prayer mode.

Take your eyes off the things of this world. Allow difficulty to bring you to your knees in prayer. Fight off those lies by crying for help. Trust in the Lord, not your circumstances.

The Bible states that Satan is a liar and deceiver. Follow:

Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.] 1 Peter 5:8-9

The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

Jesus tells us that if we are not of Him, we are of the devil:

He who is not with Me [once and for all on My side] is against Me; and he who does not[unequivocally] gather with Me scatters. Matthew 12:30

He who is not with Me [believing in Me as Lord and Savior] is against Me [there is no impartial position]; and he who does not gather with Me [assisting in My ministry], scatters. Luke 11:23

43 Why do you misunderstand what I am saying? It is because [your spiritual ears are deaf and] you are unable to hear [the truth of] My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and it is your will to practice the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths. John 8:43-44

The key to overcoming despair is keeping your mind on the Lord, which will keep your mind at peace.

Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. Colossians 3:2

Take your eyes off the things of this world. Allow difficulty to bring you to your knees in prayer. Fight off those lies by crying for help. Trust in the Lord, not your circumstances.

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness[His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. Matthew 6:33

Does Jesus Understand Your Pain?

Yes, He does!

Consider this direct prophecy of Jesus Christ from the book of Isaiah.; fulfilled in book of Matthew.

The Lord God has given Me [His Servant, Messiah] the tongue of disciples [as One who is taught],

That I may know how to sustain the weary with a word.

He awakens Me morning by morning,

He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple [as One who is taught].

5 The Lord God has opened My ear,

And I have not been rebellious

Nor have I turned back.

6 I turned My back to those who strike Me,

And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard;

I did not hide My face from insults and spitting.

7 For the Lord God helps Me,

Therefore, I have not been ashamed or humiliated.

Therefore, I have made My face like flint,

And I know that I shall not be put to shame. (Isaiah 50:4-7).

Here the Lord Jesus Christ is speaking as the servant, and as the obedient servant of the Father. You remember He said, “I came not to do My will but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 5:30). I do always those things that please the Father” (John 8:29). Here he said, “The Lord God hath opened my ear, I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.”

He submitted Himself to the Father’s will. It’s a beautiful picture of the submission of Jesus Christ unto the Father, even to the death of the cross.

We are told in the scripture that Pilate had Him scourged. Now the scourging was a beating of thirty-nine stripes laid across the back of a prisoner with a whip that they call the cat-of-nine-tails whip. It was a leather whip with little bits of cut glass and lead imbedded in it that would rip open the flesh. The purpose of the scourging was to elicit confessions.

A refusal to confess, each lick would be a little harder, again, to encourage confession. “And as the lamb before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth” (Isaiah 53:7). He said, “I gave my back to the smiters.” But He had no sins or crimes against man to confess. And Jesus was scourged by the Roman government. He received thirty-nine stripes, laid across His back.

We are told that they covered His face and they began to buffet Him. They began to hit Him. Now when you can see a blow coming, you have certain natural reflexes of fainting with that blow so that you more or less cushion the blow by an automatic reflex of pulling your head back as you see the blow coming. Our bodies are marvelously coordinated. So our minds have an automatic reflex action, even as you blink your eyes there is a certain pulling back reflex when you see a blow coming that cushions the blow. Otherwise, boxers would kill each other all the time in the ring. But you see how they are moving and you do that instinctively and automatically. Now they covered the face of Jesus so He could not see the blows coming. So that He could not instinctively pull back. So that the blows landed on His face with full force until they had beaten Him to the place where His face was so bloated and so marred, and along with them pulling our His beard by the fistful, His face was so distorted that you could not even recognize Him as a human being. (Isaiah 52:14).

26 So he set Barabbas free for them; but after having Jesus severely whipped (scourged), he handed Him over to be crucified. 27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and they gathered the whole Roman cohort around Him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet [b]robe on Him [as a king’s robe]. 29 And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and put a reed in His right hand [as a scepter]. Kneeling before Him, they ridiculed Him, saying, “Hail (rejoice), King of the Jews!” 30 They spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him repeatedly on the head. Matthew 27:26-30

Spitting is a sign in the oriental culture of total disdain and disgust. The Jews not only rejected Him, but they spit upon Him. ” I did not hide my face from their insults and spitting.”

“And as many as saw Him were astonished, shocked, and we hid as it were our faces from Him” (Isaiah 53:3). Jesus was not a pretty picture when He redeemed you from your sin. His face was a bloody, bloated mass, swollen and distorted beyond recognition. Covered with spit. His back laid open by the beating. A crown of thorns upon his head. And Pilate said, “Behold the man!” But you couldn’t even recognize that He was a man. And yet He did it. He endured it. He did not turn away. His ear was open. He submitted to the will of the Father because He loved you. “And who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross” Hebrews 12:2), even though He despised the spitting, even as you would. And the shame of the whole thing. He despised it; yet, He endured it because His love for you was stronger than anything else. And the joy of being able to wash you and redeem you and to cleanse you from all of your sins was the thing that kept Him going in that moment of disgrace and ignominy. How much He loved us. Oh, God, help us to respond to that love.

Trial of Our Faith

The afflictions of serious Christians are designed for the trial of their faith. God’s design in afflicting his people is their probation, not their destruction; their advantage, not their ruin: a trial, as the word signifies, is an experiment or search made upon a man, by some affliction, to prove the value and strength of his faith. This trial is made upon faith principally, rather than any other grace, because the trial of this is, in effect, the trial of all that is good in us

Rejoice in this, even though for a little while you may have to experience grief in various trials. Even gold is tested for genuineness by fire. The purpose of these trials is so that your trust’s genuineness, which is far more valuable than perishable gold, will be judged worthy of praise, glory and honor at the revealing of Yeshua the Messiah.

Without having seen him, you love him. Without seeing him now, but trusting in him, you continue to be full of joy that is glorious beyond words. And you are receiving what your trust is aiming at, namely, your deliverance.  1 Peter 1:6-9

The apostle grants they were in great affliction, and propounds several things in mitigation of their sorrows. 1. Every sound Christian has always something wherein he may greatly rejoice. Great rejoicing contains more than an inward placid serenity of mind or sensation of comfort; it will show itself in the countenance and conduct, but especially in praise and gratitude. 2. The chief joy of a good Christian arises from things spiritual and heavenly, from his relation to God and to heaven. In these every sound Christian greatly rejoices; his joy arises from his treasure, which consists of matters of great value, and the title to them is sure. 3. The best Christians, those who have reason greatly to rejoice, may yet be in great heaviness through manifold temptations. All sorts of adversities are temptations, or trials of faith, patience, and constancy. These seldom go singly, but are manifold, and come from different quarters, the effect of all which is great heaviness. As men, we are subject to sorrows, personal and domestic. As Christians, our duty to God obliges us to frequent sorrow: and our compassion towards the miserable, the dishonour done to God, the calamities of his church, and the destruction of mankind, from their own folly and from divine vengeance, raise, in a generous and pious mind, almost continual sorrow. I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart, Romans 9:2. 4. The afflictions and sorrows of good people are but for a little while, they are but for a season; though they may be smart, they are but short. Life itself is but for a little while, and the sorrows of it cannot survive it; the shortness of any affliction does much abate the heaviness of it. 5. Great heaviness is often necessary to a Christian’s good: If need be, you are in heaviness. God does not afflict his people willingly, but acts with judgment, in proportion to our needs. There is a conveniency and fitness, nay, an absolute necessity in the case, for so the expression signifies: it must be; therefore no man should be moved by these afflictions. For yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto, 1 Thessalonians 3:3. These troubles, that lie heavy, never come upon us but when we have need, and never stay any longer than needs must.
